Rogue Elk Campground

We had a chance to go out for a little weekend trip in the MH. Beautiful weekend at the end of summer. Fall is starting to come as it is my favorite time of year. Jerry put the Winnebago in drive and we cruised down the road. We stayed in a quaint little park on the Rogue. We like to stay near some type of water as it gives us peace. Listening to the river flow over the rocks and watching salmon trying to go up stream. Jerry finished reading a book and I just pudts around doing odds and ends. Taking pictures and just walking around. Weather was as good as it gets as it was in the low 50's at night and high 60's during the day. The little park we stayed at was just about empty as most all the weekenders are not out any more.

Now it will be time to winterize the Motorhome. Unless we sell the store and go full time.

Until next time, Lu

Lake of the Woods

Just a beautiful place to be for a little time away from the store.  The weather was great with low 70s during the day.  Just sit out side and watch the people. We were parked near the guard shack and there were lines of cars coming in for the day to fish, swim and just have fun on the water.  There was a family BBQ Saturday night that was a bit spendy for what we got.  We won't do that again.  If we have the chance to go there again we will do our own BBQ.  Nice place for a few days out to just take walks and just chill at the camp site.

We headed to the Chetco

Jerry and I finally de-winterized the Motor-home and got a chance to go out for the weekend.  We headed to the coast as it is still too cold and snowy for the Mountains. Of course the drive to the coast is a little hairy in places, because of the winding, cliffy, edge of the mountain "narrow" road. Yikes! But I kept my mouth shut and he drove like a pro thru the Smith River Canyon.

We are trying to relax a little for the time that we are here. Its a nice park right on the Chetco River in Brookings.  AtRivers Edge RV is the name of the park.  Here is a view out the front window.

Howard Prairie RV Resort

Finally had a chance to head out for the weekend to Howard Prairie Lake.  Not sure how many sites there are at this campground but I'm thinking over 200 in two sections.  We were in w6 right on the lake.  The sites are big so neighbors are not right next to you.  We had great weather for most of our time there.  It started to thunder late afternoon Saturday thru the night and next morning it rained.  We have a large awning on the RV so we weren't in the weather.  I saw mostly chipmunks and geese, but was surprised to hear a bald eagle.  They have a very different sound and I new one was close.  Then as I was looking across the lake with the binoculars, Jerry said there it is.  Sure enough there was a Bald eagle fishing.  It swoop down, got a fish and flew off.  Then another one followed.  Cool!!!  We are big eagle people and get happy happy happy when we see one.  We headed back home around noon.  Another great time out in the RV.

A weekend out

We had a another chance to get the motor home out for the weekend.  So we had Christina come in and take care of the store and to keep an eye on Betsy (Shepard) and the house.  I would like to take her with us but she is shedding badly and she really doesn't like other dogs.  She is our guard dog and she keeps and eye on the house and the store.  She doesn't like to see the motor home leave because she knows that we will be gone for a while.
We went to Riverpark RV just outside of Grants Pass.  We were at this park last year in the spring, so it was very quiet.  This time it was full and we got the last space that would fit us, it was still pretty quiet.  We were right on the river but on one side we were right next to the other RV.  Our awning was just about touching the Motor home next to us.  We didn't extend it all the way out as not to get to close.  They left early the next day so we had plenty of room until the next one came in.  They were smaller and we were fine and not as close.
The geese were everywhere on the river edge but we were up hill and they could climb up there.  At least I didn't see any poo poo any where in the park.
Everytime we go out in the Motor home it makes me more excited to be full timers.  We have been dreaming of this for many years and hoping that this will be the year we sell the store and retire.
Until next time,

A weekend to get the Rig out.

We will get a chance to go out for the weekend to get those fluids in the RV moving around.  Our part timer is going to work the weekend for us and keep an eye on the house.  We won't be going far, but at least we are getting out.  Should be a nice site that I reserved.  We will be right on the Rogue River.
More later,

We listed the store with a realtor

Well, after two years of trying to sell the store on our own, we decided to get a realtor and list it with Keller Williams reality.  He seams to thing he will "get'er done" for us.  There have been many more hits on his site than I ever got on mine own of listing it on the Web.  Hope hope hope we can sell this year.  2013 has to be a lucky year for us.
We will be going out again for a weekend trip soon.  We try to get the motor home out once in a while to keep all the fluids and everything else in the rig going.  We use everything at least once.  I can't wait to live in it full time.  I keep thinking of things i want to do to make it look like a home.  Like changing out the booth dinette to a table and chairs.  Taking out the couch and putting in a couple of comfy chairs.  I think that I will redo the valances also.  Time will tell...

Joe Creek RV Resort

Jerry and I had a chance to get out for the weekend with the Motor Home.  We went to Joe Creek Rv Resort just north of Merlin.  Nice quiet park that has permanent full timers that you wouldn't even notice.  Cute little store that has just about everything you may need.  We were in a site that had no one around us with grass and trees.  This park is our favorite so far.  We don't get a chance to get out much but will try to make it out at least once a month.
We are having a realtor come out this week so hopefully we will be able to sell the store faster.  We are ready to retire and be in our beautiful motor home full time.

Brooking and Gold Beach

We had a chance to head to the coast yesterday so we went. Yay!  Had to stop at the beach and then our little cafe in Gold Beach.  Indian Creek Cafe is a neat little place we just love.  They even have a nice RV park.  The weather was beautiful and it was a nice drive. Didn't see the herd of Elk this time, they must of been up in the trees.  Its always a good day when we can get away from the Store.

Waiting to Retire

Haven't had much to say lately just working and waiting for some lucky person to buy the store.  The weather has been a little cold and rainy.  We got a little damage on the Motor home last winter because snow was so heavy.  It pulled the front cap away and pop some plastic refits off.  We have been waiting for the weather to be warm so our rv repair guy can fix it.  Since it has to be warm for the fiberglass we have to wait for warm weather.  We are planning a weekend out next month so hope to have some good weather.  Jerry and I are ready to get on the road.

Seems like it been forever since i have been here to write.  Not much has changed.  We have taken the motor home out for a few weekend trips at local campgrounds but it just makes us want to keep driving and be full time rvers.  We have had a few email and phone calls on the store, but we never hear back from them.  We were hoping to sell the store and be on the road this year.  As the year gets closer to the end we think that we will be hear longer.  Jerry and i are ready to retire.  But it is not in our hands.  Someone like us that wants to own a little county store in beautiful southern Oregon will come to us someday.  We must be will to wait until that day.  We have been here 10 years now.  Just have to wait.

Had a Great time on the coast.

Jerry and I had a great time on the coast of Oregon in Brookings - Harbour this last weekend.  The  drive there and back, was a little hairy going through the Smith River Canyon, but we made it just fine.  There were a few close to the edge and close to the wall corners that Jerry had to drive on but luckily there wasn't any on-coming traffic.  It was silent going on those bad spots on the road.  About 20 miles of curvy, cliffy corners.  I thought he would have to stop and clean his shorts a time or two.  It was raining most of the trip there.  Our helper at the store worked the whole weekend for us.  It was a couple of days without working at the store.  But, every time we go out, we get more anxouis to sell the store and retire full time.

On the beach in brooking oregon

We finally had another chance to go out for the weekend in the MH.  The girls are working and taking care of the house for us.  We are at an RV park in Harbor-Brookings Oregon.  It was raining when we left home and it is still raining, but we are not working at the store.  We are parked right off the beach and can watch the waves come in.  Lots of seagull poop on the MH already.  I guess they just aim at big silver things.

A Chance to go

Jerry and I had a chance to take the MH out for a little camping trip for the weekend.  We have two gals taking care of the store and house.  We didn't go far from home but we are out of the store.  A nice little park on the Rouge River Just out side of Grants Pass.  Nice quiet park about 40 sites.  A little R&R for us this week end.

On their way home.

Janelle and the kids are on their way back to San Diego. The left yesterday morning and stopped at one of their friends in Redding, Ca. She is going to take her time going home.
We had a Wonderful visit with the O'hara clan. Weather Easter Sunday was nice for the egg hunt. Betsy our shepherd helped them find the eggs. The store was closed, so we had the chance to spend the day with them. I was a nice change to have company and a day off. When we sell the store we will have all the time in the world to spend with family and friends. We can't wait. But we must. Our retirement is in someone else hands.

Happy Easter!!!

The kids are up and have there Easter baskets. Jerry and Janelle are out hiding eggs. I don't remember hiding eggs as a kid but I'm sure we did. All I remember is the cold slushy snow and that I my pretty Easter dress with new black patent leather shoes were not warm and had to cover it all with a big ole coat going to church. Seam to remember that I always had an ear ache also. Until I had my tonsils out. This was in Michigan.

Jerry and Janelle just came in from hidding eggs and she wants do the hunt now, before the bear and all the wild animals and birds get the eggs. City girl. Lets wait till it warms up a tad.
Happy Easter

Need Propane

Jerry took the MH out to get propane in it yesterday. The weather has been colder than usual and we were running out. Janelle and the kids are in the house and we are out in the MH. There is only one direction he can bring the MH in the side yard so he stopped to pick up the kids to give them a little ride to go to his turn around place. When they got back they had real big eyes and gave PaPa big hugs for the 6 mile ride. Janelle said she could really get used to this, you can see forever. Got to love those big MH front picture windows. I my self haven't had only one opportunity to take a ride. Some day it will be FULL TIME!!!

Janelle and kidos are here...

Janelle and the kidos arrived yesterday afternoon for a visit from San Diego. They will be moving to Pensacola in July. It is fun having the grand-kids around. They are getting so big. Jaelyn will be 10 this year. Time flies quickly when you don't see them. We stayed in the MH so Janelle and the kids could sleep in the house. Just like camping. Can't wait to be in the MH full time.

I can't beleive that it is still rainning...

Well lets see... Well over 4 inches of rain. The creek is going over the edge and the yard is soaked. Janelle and the grand-kids are expected tomorrow night sometime. We had her wait a day because of the weather. Looks a little better tomorrow. She has to come through the Siskiyou pass in southern Oregon. It is the highest point on I5, and she has to come over it. It is a lot colder today so I hope she doesn't his any snow. We are excited to see her and the kids. We will be staying in the MH while she is here. Fun Fun.
